It means someone who cuts themselves.Kinda similar to gothic.Gothic means that the person hates the world.

Sorry to barge in, I just felt I should point out something. 'Emo' can mean someone is emotional, sensitive, shy, or filled with angst. It's sometimes associated with depression. Also refers to a certain type of music and fashion, which is generally, well dark. Goth is this sort of subculture based on a certain music and look. Gothic refers to someone or something that has that 'Goth' look; dark, heavy make-up, Victorian, Punk, stuff like that. But it's just a certain 'look' or 'feel', it doesn't mean that person hates anything. I'm not exactly an expert in either, but that's a more precise description I think.
I'm a total stickler for accuracy, sorry! :D But I hope that helped some!
